Who Am I?

1. Who are you? I'm Cassidy Newell an art education major that is heavily influenced by music and politics when creating.
2. Where are you from? Camp Hill, Pa.... a small town just outside of Harrisburg
3. Do you have a preferred pronoun? she/her
4. Tell me something about yourself? I am deaf in my left ear due to a tumor that I had taken out in 6th grade.
5. What is your major? Art Education
6. What kind of art do you like to make (share an image)? I like to make 3D art typically ceramics, but  I also enjoy painting and drawing.
7. What apps/programs on the phone or computer do you use most frequently and what for? I usually use Instagram and snap chat to stay up to date with friends, but I also Netflix, Youtube, and Spotify frequently for entertainment.
8. Who is one of your favorite visual artists (post a  photo)? Right now I am really into an artist named Mikayla that goes by ScientificWoman on Instagram and most platforms. She has a Ph.D. in Chemistry and aims to find beauty in nature and anatomy through the normalization of dissection and taxidermy.https://www.scientificwoman.com/
   
   
9. Who is your favorite musician (share a link)? Greta Van Fleet 
10. What do you hope to get out of this class? I want to come out with at least an understanding of how to use and what can be created using digital platforms since I have little to no experience.
11. Can you sit still for an hour? I can but I either have to be working or extremely interested in the topic. If it is a lecture on something I'm not passionate about then I might struggle a bit.
12. What is your relationship to visual studies? Every artist is connected to visual studies because we are the new producers of visual culture. My personal connection is that I create art, plan to teach how to make and understand art, as well as being an active consumer of visual culture and media.
13. What is the relationship between computers and visual studies? They act as a platform for digital arts and allow for the spread of media.
14. What is your experience with Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere? I used photoshop a little bit but otherwise, I have no experience.
15. Have you ever created a 3D printed object? No
16. Do you have a computer at home? If so does it have Photoshop and Illustrator? Mac or PC? I have a MacBook Pro that has Photoshop and Illustrator.
17. Write a five-line story.  Throughout my life, I always had hearing problems in my left ear. Doctors had thought I just had a hearing impairment and was prone to ear infections. It wasn't until I was in sixth grade that I went to a specialist that I found out I had a tumor in my ear. It had eroded at the bones in my ear and started to eat away at my skull. Luckily, it was benign and was able to be removed.
